I have never rented self-storage before, how does it work?
Empire Storage makes renting self-storage as easy as 1-2-3!
First, Select a Unit Size: We offer a wide range of sizes from indoor temperature-controlled units to large drive-up units with automatic doors for RVs or other hard-to-store items.
Second, Inspect Your Unit: Prior to renting, we will show you the Unit to ensure that it is clean, the latch and door open smoothly, the individual door alarm is functioning, and that the Unit fits your needs.
Third, Complete Our Rental Agreement: Our Empire staff members will answer all your questions before you rent. You will simply need a valid government form of identification (driver’s license, passport, etc.), and pay the first month’s rent plus a one-time $10 administrative fee. That’s it!
We will provide you with a unique, individual gate code to enter and exit the property. Your door alarm automatically disarms when you enter your gate code and access your Unit, and it re-arms itself when you leave.

We have a variety of unit sizes to satisfy any storage need! Our units range from 5’x5’ indoor, temperature-controlled units to store your small valuable items to spacious drive-up 15’x40’ units with automatic doors to park your RVs or boats, and include every size in between!

Some Customers like to use every inch of space, while others like to move around their Unit as needed. The most important thing is that our Customers are comfortable with their selection without overpaying for unused space. We will work with you to the right size that fits your needs.
How long is my rental agreement for?
At Empire Storage, all rental agreements are month-to-month, even for promotional rates, so you decide how long to stay with us! (Please note that we do not pro-rate months if you exit before your monthly anniversary date).

How do I pay for my Unit?
Empire Storage accepts all major credit cards, cash, check, money order and cashier’s check. You may pay in-person by visiting our office or by dropping off your payment in our After-Hours Secure Drop Box.
For your convenience, we also process payments over the phone, pay online here, or by enrolling in our automatic payment program where your monthly rent is debited from your account on the due date. This is a great way to avoid any late payment fees!
What if I need to get a bigger unit or a smaller unit?
Transferring unit sizes is simple if your storage needs change over time. Assuming your preferred Unit Size is available, simply sign a new rental agreement and receive a credit or a charge based on the monthly fee for the new unit.
When will I have access to my unit?
Empire Storage makes customer access a priority! Our standard gate hours are 6am to 10pm, every day including holidays. If you need extended access hours, please ask our Empire staff members (restrictions apply). Please also note that Empire Storage may restrict gate access to customers whose rent is more than 5 days past due.
What are some tips that Empire Storage suggests?
When storing at any storage facility, always inspect your unit to make sure that it is the right size, in proper working order, and that it is clean and accessible.
The next thing to consider is how you store your items, including accessibility. Always place heavier items on the bottom, lighter or breakable items on top, and items you need more often toward the front of your unit. Labelling your boxes and totes makes retrieval easy when needed, and that you cover any mattress, electronics or other sensitive materials.
If temperature or wet weather is a concern, you may want one of Empire Storage’s indoor, temperature-controlled units.
We suggest that you visit your Unit at least once a month to ensure that everything is order, proper maintenance is performed, and to address any issues since your last visit.
What type of pest control services does Empire Storage have in place?
We have engaged a local pest control company that treats the entire facility weekly, including exterior areas, drive aisles and in front of unit doors.
What does “temperature-controlled” mean?
Our indoor temperature-controlled units are located in a locked, separate building next to the Office. Temperature is maintained between 60 and 80 degrees all year. While these units are more expensive per square foot than our outdoor drive-up units, you can rest easy that your belongings are not exposed to the wide range of temperatures that our Fresno climate brings. We also provide our Customers with convenient parking and a hand dolly to transfer items from your car to your indoor unit.
What does drive-up storage mean?
Drive-up storage means what it says! You have easy, drive-up access to your Unit. All of our units have roll-up doors, so don’t worry about dings or nicks to your car from the old-fashioned swing doors some facilities have, and there are no hallways or other impediments to access your Unit. Our wide drive aisles make accessing your Unit with our Free Move-In Truck easy.
What supplies are available for purchase?
Our Office has a range of supplies available for purchase to make your storage experience as convenient as possible, including locks, boxes, covers, padding and more. Let our Staff know what you need and we will make sure it is ready for you!
Is Empire Storage a good community member?
Empire Storage is proud of its community involvement and assistance. We sponsor local school sports programs and help non-profit companies with their storage needs.
We also work with Charity Storage by providing a storage unit in which tenants and non-tenants can donate unwanted items for auction with all proceeds donated to charity. See Empire Staff Members for complete details of this charitable program.
